Hi!
I’m Claire.
I’m a strategist and coach working with leaders to design systems for people.
How I got here
It all started when I first understood the holistic nature of health.
My journey began at 18 when I went to college and was fully in charge of taking care of myself for the first time. I started by investing in my physical health — strength training, trail running, and viewing food as fuel for my body.
For personal reasons, I decided to take a year off of school halfway through. Despite continuing to prioritize my physical health, I experienced deep loneliness and dissatisfaction with my life. Determined to dig my way out of it, I became interested in positive psychology and what humans need to thrive. After reading books about behavioral science and the power of community, I started journaling, meditating, and prioritizing friendships.
It wasn’t all solved immediately, but these tactics allowed time to work its magic.
As I experienced more of the world, I began to understand the power of systems.
During this year off of school, I certified and began working as a Spanish medical interpreter. Accompanying these folks to their doctor appointments, I saw doctors speak too quickly, talk over them, and prescribe medication rather than educate on the necessary lifestyle changes. It became clear to me that the healthcare system was built to maximize the number of patients seen each day rather than lasting wellness.
When I continued my college education, I started to study Sociology. Discussions often centered around the power of systems to negatively impact people. In a world of systemic racism, poverty, and oppression, I began to wonder why we hadn’t yet designed for systemic flourishing.
When I became a strategist, I learned how to identify opportunities and create plans for change.
After entering the professional world, I became a strategist at a digital agency. I learned the methodologies of design thinking, strategy, and systems thinking to identify opportunities and create plans for change. Though I was using these skills to create brand and digital strategies, I realized that I could apply these same methodologies and frameworks to life.
Wanting to facilitate change for people, I took a course to learn the art of coaching.
After working in strategy for a few years, I had a deep desire to use my strategic skills for something more personal and with more immediate impact. Health coaching seemed like a natural next step. In 2021, I trained and certified as an integrative health and wellness coach with Duke University’s coaching program.
For the last few years, I’ve been putting theory into practice.
Since then, I’ve created my own methodology for designing systems for people. I’ve worked with founders of early-stage startups, led group sessions at Fortune 500 companies, and partnered with leaders of non profits to deliver brand work that involves and represents those they serve.
My Values
These values and core beliefs guide everything I do and how we’ll work together.
-
There are enough time and resources to invest in and care for all beings.
-
Asking questions will illuminate the path forward more clearly than passing judgment.
-
It is best to leave people, places, and communities better than when we found them.
-
We can't break barriers unless we recognize them and admit that they're there.
-
Testing out different strategies, taking notes, and adjusting is the best way to make progress.
